Sekhem Healing in Hāwī

Sekhem energy healing and tarot for Hāwī, at the end of the Kohala Mountain Road near Pololū. Online first, in person only by request. Travel notes inside.

Hāwī sits at the far end of the Kohala Mountain Road, a small former plantation town close to Pololū Valley on the island's northern tip, about as far from Hilo as the Big Island's main roads go. If you're in Hāwī searching for Sekhem energy healing, Jason works with Hāwī clients online first. He lives in Hawaiian Paradise Park, on the opposite side of the island, so an in-person session here is only by request and only if he confirms it is practical.

Sekhem is the tradition Jason practices, an older Egyptian lineage related to Reiki but distinct in how it works, and he does not practice or offer Reiki itself. If "reiki Hawi" brought you here, read Sekhem vs Reiki first so you know what to expect from a session.

What Hāwī clients usually book

Hāwī has become something of an art and small-business town since the plantation closed, drawing both longtime residents and newer arrivals looking for a slower pace near the Pololū overlook. Clients here most often book a single Sekhem session or a tarot and energy signature reading timed around a visit to the area, since it's far enough from Hilo that a quick weekday trip isn't realistic for most people.

Travel to and from Hāwī

The drive from Hilo to Hāwī runs through Waimea and out along the Kohala Mountain Road, a genuinely long trip across the island rather than a local hop. In-person sessions in Hāwī are not on a rotation. Write ahead and Jason will tell you whether a visit is realistic, or set you up with an online session right away.

The end of the road, in a good way

Hāwī was once the commercial center for the Kohala sugar plantations, and after the mill closed, the town reinvented itself around small galleries, shops, and a slower pace of life that draws both retirees and younger transplants. It sits close to the start of the road out to Pololū Valley, where the pavement ends and a steep trail drops to a black sand beach backed by sea cliffs, one of the more dramatic views on the island. The dry, breezy climate here is a clear contrast to the wet forest around Hawaiian Paradise Park, where Jason has made his home on the other side of the island.

What a Hāwī session can offer

Sekhem involves grounding, channeled hands-on energy work, sound and vibration, sage, cedar, and Egyptian oils from Jason's lineage, followed by journaling and a debrief.

Experiences with Sekhem vary from person to person. Clients have described feelings of deep relaxation, warmth, emotional release, greater clarity, peacefulness, and a stronger sense of connection with themselves. Some people also describe physical sensations or shifts during or following a session. These experiences are personal and are not presented as expected or guaranteed outcomes. This work complements medical and mental health care. It does not replace either.

A small town that keeps its own character

Hāwī's short main strip holds a cluster of galleries, a few restaurants, and shops that give the town a distinct identity separate from the ranch land surrounding it, a character shaped by the artists and small business owners who moved in after the plantation closed. Clients booking from Hāwī often combine a session with time exploring the town itself, and Jason has found that the unhurried, art-town pace here tends to carry into the session, with people arriving already a little more settled than they might after a rushed weekday.

What a session day in Hāwī looks like

Most Hāwī sessions happen online, from your own living room. If an in-person visit is confirmed, it would mean a dedicated cross-island trip, with a meeting point agreed in advance. The session itself doesn't shrink to fit a tight schedule. It runs the same full length as any Sekhem or breathwork appointment, grounding, the channeled work or the guided breath rounds, sound and oils where Sekhem is involved, and a closing debrief. Many Hāwī clients book online and then spend the rest of the day on other plans in town, lunch at one of the small restaurants on the main strip, a walk through the galleries.

From sugar town to art town

Hāwī served as the commercial hub for the Kohala Sugar Company until the plantation shut down in 1975, and rather than fading, the town found a second life as artists, craftspeople, and small business owners moved into the old storefronts over the following decades. That transformation gives Hāwī a character unlike any other town in this part of the island: a short strip of galleries and shops inside buildings that still show their plantation-era bones. The town sits exposed to near-constant trade winds coming off the channel between Hawai'i Island and Maui, which keeps the air noticeably breezier here than in the more sheltered parts of Kohala further inland.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Hāwī from Hilo, realistically?

It's a full cross-island drive, through Waimea and along the Kohala Mountain Road, not a same-day round trip most people want to make twice in one day. Plan the visit as a trip, not an errand.

Does Jason ever pair a Hāwī session with a Pololū Valley visit?

Some clients do plan their visit around seeing the Pololū lookout, since it's close by. Mention it when you book if the timing matters to you.

Is online a realistic option for Hāwī residents?

Very much so. Given the distance, most Hāwī clients do Sekhem or tarot sessions online, and ask about an in-person visit only if the occasion calls for it.

Does Jason ever combine a Hāwī visit with Waimea bookings?

If an in-person trip to Kohala ever comes together, the two towns sit along the same Kohala Mountain Road route. If you'd like to be considered for the same trip as a Waimea client, mention your flexibility when you write.

Is there anything specific to know about parking or access in Hāwī?

The town's main strip is small and walkable, and parking is generally straightforward compared to busier tourist towns elsewhere on the island. If an in-person session is confirmed, Jason gives you the exact meeting location, since sessions aren't held at a fixed public address.

Does the wind in Hāwī affect an outdoor-adjacent session?

It can. The trade winds here blow steadily most days, stronger than in sheltered parts of Kohala, so sessions are generally held indoors rather than outside regardless of the season.
