Energy Healing Across Kohala

Sekhem energy healing, breathwork and tarot for North and South Kohala. Online first, in person only by request, plus notes on the Kohala Mountain Road route.

North and South Kohala sit on the island's dry leeward side, a landscape of grazing land and old sugar towns climbing toward the Kohala Mountains, a world away in climate from the rainforest around Hilo. If you're in Kohala, whether Waimea, Hāwī, or somewhere between, and searching for energy healing, Jason serves the district online first, since he lives in Hawaiian Paradise Park on the far side of the island. In person is only by request, case by case.

Jason practices Sekhem, an Egyptian-lineage tradition related to Reiki but built around a different framework, working through what the lineage calls the soul chakra and earth chakra. He does not practice or offer Reiki. If "energy healer Kohala" brought you here expecting Reiki specifically, read Sekhem vs Reiki before you book.

Kohala's own service pattern

Kohala's dry climate and ranch-town character set it apart from the wetter, denser Hilo side of the island, and clients here often have a longer drive to conventional wellness services than people closer to town. Sekhem and Galactic Breathing are the two most common bookings, frequently paired into one stretch of time. Spirit Guidance Mentoring by video gives clients who want weekly continuity a way to have it without any travel.

The route through Kohala

The Kohala Mountain Road connects Waimea up to Hāwī along the district's high ground, a scenic but winding drive that takes longer than its short mileage suggests. Travel into Kohala for an in-person session is not on a rotation and is not available on demand. Write ahead with your town, and Jason will tell you whether it is realistic, while online sessions are ready whenever you are.

Cattle country on the flank of an old volcano

Kohala is built around the island's oldest volcano, long extinct and heavily eroded, and the district's ranching history still defines its character, from the working cattle operations around Waimea to the old plantation towns closer to the coast. The land here holds less rainfall than the Hilo side because the Kohala Mountains and Mauna Kea block much of the moisture moving in from the east, giving the district a golden, open look for much of the year that contrasts sharply with the rainforest Jason's home base sits in.

What a Kohala session can offer

Sekhem sessions involve grounding into deep relaxation, channeled energy work with hands over the body, sound and vibration, sage and cedar, and Egyptian oils passed down through Jason's lineage. Experiences with Sekhem vary from person to person. Clients have described feelings of deep relaxation, warmth, emotional release, greater clarity, peacefulness, and a stronger sense of connection with themselves. Some people also describe physical sensations or shifts during or following a session. These experiences are personal and are not presented as expected or guaranteed outcomes. The work supports overall wellbeing. It is not a treatment for any diagnosed condition.

A different pace than the wet side

Kohala's ranching families have worked this land for generations, and the district carries a slower, more agrarian rhythm than the resort-adjacent stretch of coast further south near Waikoloa. Clients here often value that same unhurried quality in a session, and Jason notices it shapes how people show up: less rushed, more willing to let a Sekhem session run its natural course. It's part of why any in-person Kohala visit would need real breathing room built in rather than back-to-back bookings.

What a Kohala session looks like

Most Kohala sessions run online, from wherever you are in Waimea, Hāwī, or along the coast. The session runs full length either way: grounding, the hands-on or breath work itself, and a closing debrief that isn't compressed to fit a schedule. In the rare case that an in-person visit is confirmed, Jason agrees the route and your preferred window with you before the trip rather than promising a fixed time. Clients who book Sekhem paired with Galactic Breathing typically plan for the better part of a half day once both pieces and the closing conversation are included.

Lava fields turned to rangeland

The Kohala volcano is the oldest of the five that built Hawai'i Island, extinct for hundreds of thousands of years and worn down by erosion into the rolling, grass-covered hills that define the district today, a sharp contrast to the younger, sharper lava fields further south near Kona. Spanish and Mexican vaqueros brought cattle ranching to this land in the 1800s, and that heritage still runs through Kohala's culture, visible in the open pastures around Waimea and the paniolo history celebrated throughout the district. The same volcanic age that gave Kohala its soil also left it in the rain shadow of taller, younger peaks, which is the deeper reason the district stays so much drier than Hilo year round.

Frequently asked questions

Does "Kohala" cover both North and South?

Yes, the whole district is covered here, from Waimea's ranch lands through to Hāwī and the coast near Pololū. If you want detail specific to Hāwī, see its own page.

Does Jason travel to Kohala?

Only by request, and only if he confirms it is practical, since he lives in Hawaiian Paradise Park. Mention your specific location when you write, or begin with an online session.

Is Kohala's dry climate relevant to booking outdoor or in-person work?

It can be. Kohala stays notably drier and sunnier than Hilo most of the year, which sometimes shapes where an in-person session is comfortably held. It's worth mentioning if you have a preference.

Should I book from the Kohala page or the Hāwī page?

If Hāwī is specifically your town, its own page has more precise local detail and travel notes. The information here is for the wider North and South Kohala district, useful if you're in Waimea, along the coast, or unsure which sub-area applies to you.

Are Kohala sessions ever held outdoors given the dry weather?

It depends on the client and the day. Some prefer to stay indoors regardless of conditions, while others ask about incorporating the outdoors given how reliably dry and clear Kohala tends to be. Mention your preference when you book.

Why is Kohala's volcano different from the rest of the island's?

It's the oldest and most eroded of Hawai'i Island's five volcanoes, which is why the district has rolling, grass-covered hills instead of the sharper, younger lava rock found near Kona or Volcano.
